Description
In “My Daddy Has One Leg”, a little girl’s father has one leg and this lovely, illustrated rhyming story talks about her feelings about her father and how other people’s reactions can make her feel. The story talks about how daddies come in all shapes, sizes, and talents, and the pictures reflect that. There are daddies who are short, tall, black, Chinese, Caucasian, aboriginal Canadian, Sikh, heavier, thinner, and we even have a daddy who is a little person. The goal of this book is for every Canadian child to be able to see at least one picture they can relate to in some way. The full page illustrations on the right are more realistic in nature and show children and their fathers in multiple scenarios and environments. The text pages on the left have little sock monkey cartoon illustrations and the father monkey is also missing a leg. There is something in this book for everyone – children, parents, and teachers.
